"One in-feed post, $600 — plus 6 months exclusivity, paid usage and whitelisting."
Those last twelve words are worth more than the post. The brand knows. They are hoping you don't notice while the offer still reads as friendly.
Brand deals aren't underpaid because the rate card is wrong
They're underpaid because the expensive parts arrive bundled in for free:
- Exclusivity — six months of turning down competitors, attached to a one-post fee.
- Paid usage / whitelisting — your face in their ad account, at their spend, for as long as they like.
- Perpetuity — "forever", hidden as a word rather than a line item.
- Extra deliverables — three stories, a reel cutdown and raw footage, negotiated in after the fee was agreed.
What Daiko does about it
You set the boundaries once, before the brief lands:
- Your floor — per post, per package, however you sell.
- Your non-negotiables — exclusivity capped, dated and priced separately; whitelisting quoted separately with a spend cap; usage term and territory stated; no perpetuity; payment terms in writing.
- Your target — what you're actually aiming for.
Then it works the inbox: splits the brief into line items before quoting anything, asks for the deliverables and the usage term the brief left out, counters a lowball with the market range and the real scope — and never crosses your floor. It replies in the brand's own language, including when the agency writes in Japanese, German, French or Spanish.
Itemising doesn't scare brands off. It makes briefs arrive already itemised, because the agency knows they'll be asked.
Where you come in
When an offer clears your floor — or the gap won't close — you get one email: the money, the terms, their last message. Reply APPROVE, REVISE: 3 months exclusivity max, whitelisting quoted separately, or DECLINE. Nothing is agreed or declined without that reply.
What it does not do
- It does not agree or decline for you.
- Email only — no DMs, no phone, no video.
- It does not manage deliverables, invoice, or give legal advice.
- It is not a lawyer or an agent — the rates and statutes it reports are research, so verify them.
